Bale: The provincial committee for epidemic management held its first session on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, under the chairmanship of High Commissioner Martin Bako. The proceedings included a presentation on the epidemiological situation in the Boromo health district, an appeal for the introduction of malaria vaccination, and recommendations for stabilizing the epidemiological situation in the province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the epidemiological situation in the Boromo health district during the first three quarters was better than in previous years. Chief Medical Officer Hippolyte Bouda revealed that 14,438 cases of malaria were recorded in the province's health facilities, with 34 deaths. Unlike the previous year, the district did not experience a measles epidemic but only isolated cases of children who had missed the vaccination campaign.

This improvement in the epidemiological situation is linked to efforts such as the free distribution and use of long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets, hygiene awareness campaigns, the destruction of larval breeding sites, and various vaccination campaigns. Despite the progress, health authorities acknowledge that challenges still need to be addressed to achieve a more stable situation.

Participants attended a presentation advocating for the introduction of malaria vaccination for children. Health authorities believe that malaria vaccination is a solution to combating the disease in children. Administrative authorities and representatives of socio-professional groups were invited to be spokespeople within their communities to highlight the benefits of vaccination.

For stabilization of the epidemiological situation, recommendations were made for regular awareness activities to combat malaria, such as the destruction of larval habitats and means of combating epidemics. Sessions of departmental and communal committees for epidemic management were also recommended.

The session provided an opportunity for the High Commissioner, who also chairs the district health council, to commend the commitment of health workers, their partners, and community leaders. Their combined efforts have contributed to the decline in malaria cases in the province. He encouraged all stakeholders to maintain their momentum and strive for even greater success.
