Kaya: The process of developing the Regional Scheme for Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development (SRADDT) for the Koulse region was officially launched in Kaya under the chairmanship of the Minister of Economy and Finance. This workshop marks a significant step in implementing the national land-use planning policy aimed at ensuring harmonious and sustainable development.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop was organized with financial support from the Community Recovery and Stabilization Project for the Sahel-Burkina Faso (PCRSS-Burkina). It featured an official handover of the contract and service order to the design office, marking the commencement of the development process for the regional planning and development scheme (SRADDT) for Koulse, with a vision extending to 2040.

The ceremony saw the participation of local administrative authorities, technical and financial partners, representatives of civil society organizations, community leaders, as well as a mission led by the Director General of Territorial Development of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The design office responsible for developing the SRADDT was officially presented, outlining the main tasks and roadmap for the scheme's development.

In the opening address delivered by Colonel-Major Z. Blaise Ouedraogo, Governor of the Koulse Region, the Minister of Economy and Finance emphasized the initiative's importance for the Koulse Region, describing it as a "structuring project" for the region's future. The SRADDT is seen as a strategic tool for optimizing the use of the region's natural and human resources and ensuring an equitable distribution of activities and infrastructure.

The minister explained that regional land-use planning and sustainable development schemes are long-term strategic planning and guidance documents designed to address regional crises through development guidelines formulated in consultation with regional stakeholders.

Dr. Antarou Ly, the second vice-president of the Central-North regional special delegation, stated that the aim is to design a future territory where peace is consolidated, access to basic social services is guaranteed for all, and economic prosperity is shared.

Nama Roger, an expert from the consulting firm, assured that the document would be delivered on time in February 2026. The governor urged state and non-state structures to collaborate fully with the consulting firm to produce a high-quality SRADDT.

The SRADDT of Koulse is intended to serve as a reference for planning and harmonizing development actions by the State, local authorities, and the private sector throughout the regional territory. This development is part of the Government of Burkina Faso's efforts, under the leadership of His Excellency Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, Head of State, to continue the implementation of the National Scheme for Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development (SNADDT), horizon 2040.
