Germany Faces Defeat as Burkina Faso’s Zongo Shines with Winning Goal

Doha: Burkina Faso striker Mohamed Zongo, who scored against Germany's U17 National Team, explained to AIB on Saturday evening in the Qatari capital how he achieved his masterpiece to send his country to the round of 16 of the World Cup in their category.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the young striker shared the details of his pivotal moment in the match. "As soon as I got the ball, I fixed the defender and it came to me that I had to curl the ball. I did it and it went in. I was sure of myself on that move, in that position," explained the happy goalscorer Mohamed Zongo.

This isn't the first time they've pulled off such a feat. He scored from practically the same position against the Czech Republic in the second round of Group I matches. The young striker for Sporting FC des Cascades (Burkina Faso) feels "great" after eliminating the defending champions, Germany. "It wasn't an easy match, but we managed to win, that's the main thing."

The next opponent for the round of 16 is Uganda and "Inshallah, we will win. We don't have a good idea of this opponent but we will make do with it," wished the Sporting prodigy. Burkina Faso will face Uganda in the Round of 16 on Tuesday, November 18, at 1:30 PM UTC and 3:30 PM (Doha time). The FIFA U-17 World Cup will take place in Doha, Qatar, from November 3 to 27, 2025.
