Helmet Usage on the Rise Among Fada N’Gourma Motorists

Gourma: Wearing a helmet is gradually becoming a habit for the citizens of Fada N'Gourma. This Wednesday, November 19, 2025, it was noted that helmet use is gaining ground among road users in Fada N'Gourma, following community service imposed on motorcyclists and tricycle drivers arrested for not wearing helmets.

According to Burkina Information Agency, observations made in several of the city's main thoroughfares indicate that an increasing number of drivers are now wearing helmets. This new dynamic comes after the joint control operation carried out on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, by the National Road Safety Office (ONASER), the National Police, and the Municipal Police, which led to the arrest of numerous users in violation.

The effects of this action already seem noticeable and several helmet sellers we spoke to are delighted with a sudden increase in their clientele. They stated that requests increased significantly in the wake of community service imposed on offenders.

For their part, citizens welcome this gradual awareness and hope that the trend will strengthen so that wearing a helmet becomes a reflex shared by all users. They also hope that the authorities will continue the necessary measures to reduce traffic accidents, which are causing grievance to families almost daily in the city of Yendabli.
