Ouagadougou: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) distributed poultry and poultry feed to 100 vulnerable households in Diapaga on Monday, including host families and internally displaced persons. In total, 100 households received 600 poultry and 100 bags of 25 kg of poultry feed. Each household received a kit consisting of five hens, one rooster, and one bag of feed.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the Tapoa Provincial Committee of the Red Cross, Tadjoa Coulidiati, stated that this distribution activity is part of strengthening food security for the most vulnerable households. He highlighted that it also aims to support the resilience of populations affected by food, security, and health crises, which have severely reduced productive livestock in the province.

Mr. Coulidiati pointed out that many families have had their animals taken or stolen due to insecurity. The ICRC's initiative is intended to contribute to rebuilding these households' livestock and restoring their livelihoods. The beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction and commitment to making good use of these donations.

Tikoa Tankoano, displaced from Partiaga, mentioned that this support will allow her to resume her livestock farming activities, which she had abandoned due to the crisis. Diapaga resident Podama Coulidiati welcomed the initiative as a "breath of fresh air" for women whose income-generating activities have been affected by displacement.

Assista Ouedraogo, another beneficiary, advocated for the construction of chicken coops, training of beneficiaries in poultry farming, and increased support for host families, who often face additional burdens related to hosting displaced persons.
