10th Edition of FIBO Launches with Focus on Agri-Food Industrialization

Guiriko: The 10th edition of the Bobo-Dioulasso International Fair (FIBO) was officially launched at the site of the National Culture Week, under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of Houet and President of the Special Municipal Delegation of Bobo-Dioulasso, Laurent K. KONTOGOM. The event attracted administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, economic stakeholders, as well as numerous exhibitors and visitors from Burkina Faso and several other African countries.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner, representing the Governor of the region, praised the strong public turnout and the resilience of the organizing committee. He emphasized the importance of their efforts in sustaining the momentum of this biennial event, even in a challenging environment. The High Commissioner also urged attendees to acknowledge the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, whose dedication enables such events to occur.

Founded in 2007, FIBO has become a significant platform for promoting local production and "Made in Burkina" products. Laurent K. KONTOGOM highlighted that the ten editions of the fair demonstrate a sustainable vision and successful collaboration among stakeholders in the sector. The theme for the 2025 edition, "Industrialization of the agri-food sector: an opportunity for employment and youth empowerment," aligns with President Captain Ibrahim Traore's vision for agri-food sovereignty in Burkina Faso.

The High Commissioner outlined the key aspects of this sovereignty, including transforming local resources to add value, reducing imports, ensuring healthy, locally sourced food, and creating sustainable jobs for youth. He encouraged entrepreneurs and processors to innovate and pursue projects, assuring them of ongoing governmental support.

Souleymane Sanon, president of the Special Delegation of District No. 7, conveyed the message from the president of the Special Municipal Delegation. Additionally, Alfred Sanou, president of the organizing committee, expressed appreciation to the Municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso for its unwavering support.
