Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso is set to host the WAFU-B U15 African school championships in December, as announced by Oumarou Sawadogo, the president of the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF), during a press conference held in Ouagadougou. The event will take place from December 1 to 4 and will feature young athletes from six West African nations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the participating countries include Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, and the host nation, Burkina Faso. The competition will be divided into two groups of three teams each for both the boys' and girls' categories. In the boys' category, Burkina Faso will compete in Group A alongside Ghana and Niger, while Group B will consist of Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Benin. In the girls' category, Burkina Faso will again be in Group A, this time with Ivory Coast and Nigeria, as Group B includes Ghana, Benin, and Niger.

"It has been ages since Burkina Faso hosted a major football competition. Today, we are in the spirit of using sport to promote the image of Burkina Faso, whose authorities are sparing no effort to support initiatives in this direction," FBF President Sawadogo remarked at the press conference. He was accompanied by Secretary General Boureima Balima and Adama Guira, the head of football development for UFOA-B and a former international player.

The event will not only focus on the football matches but will also include several activities aimed at fostering skill development. These activities will feature training sessions for young reporters, doctors, content creators, and referees. Each participating country will be represented by two teams, one for girls and one for boys.

The delegations are scheduled to arrive in Ouagadougou this Tuesday, setting the stage for an exciting football tournament that aims to enhance Burkina Faso's image through sports.
