Bougouriba: The torch of the national campaign "Dem¨ Sira", the path of solidarity, arrived in the Djoro region on Sunday, November 23, 2025. It was welcomed in Diebougou, opposite the regional Customs office, on the Diebougou-Bobo-Dioulasso road, by the governor of the region, Siaka Barro, surrounded by several administrative, customary, religious, military, paramilitary officials and a large popular mobilization.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the highlight of the ceremony was the official handover of the torch to the governor of Djoro, Siaka Barro, by his counterpart from Guiriko, Mariama Konate/Gnanou. Presenting the torch to the officials and the public, Governor Barro emphasized the symbolic and social significance of this initiative.
He stated that the passing of the torch of solidarity in the region must contribute to strengthening social cohesion and living well together. He encouraged ensuring that this flame illuminates the steps towards solidarity and national unity.
The governor urged the people to show active solidarity, encouraging the more fortunate to help the less fortunate and making the problems of one Burkinabe the concern of all. He stressed the importance of reducing individualism and placing the greater good above all else, declaring that everyone's neighbor should be treated as a family.
Governor Barro also called for messages of solidarity and peace to be spread throughout the region. A symbolic collection was organized on site, giving participants the opportunity to express their generosity, accompanied by traditional-modern musical performances that were well received by the audience.
The day before, the solidarity caravan had traveled the main thoroughfares of Diebougou to spread the message of the initiative: to mobilize the sons and daughters of the country around mutual aid and support for vulnerable people.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, the "Dem¨ Sira" campaign will run until January 31, 2026. For three months, it invites Burkinab¨ citizens to express their solidarity through donations in kind or in cash. Before reaching the Djoro region, the campaign has already traveled through the Nando, Bankui, Tannounyan, and Guiriko regions.
