Kenedougou Flag-Raising Ceremony Promotes Unity and Resilience

Kenedougou: The High Commissioner of Kenedougou Province, Saidou Sakira, presided over the solemn flag-raising ceremony in Orodara under the banner of living together. This event was part of the celebration of the second edition of the Guiriko Regional Week of Living Together (SRVE).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the raising of the colours in Orodara was marked by the playing of the national anthem and included several key moments, such as the distribution of kits to vulnerable people. These kits, consisting of sheep, pigs, and poultry, were offered by the Livestock Resilience and Combativeness Project (PRECEL). The provincial director in charge of Animal Resources in Kenedougou, Gassi Lougue, highlighted that PRECEL's support aims to strengthen the livelihoods of the poorest beneficiaries to enhance their economic and social resilience.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of the solidarity urn, symbolizing the official start of fundraising for the national solidarity campaign "D¨m¨ Sira" in the province. By officially launching the SRVE in his jurisdiction, High Commissioner Saidou Sakira conveyed the message of the Governor of Guiriko, emphasizing the spirit and scope of the event. The SRVE is seen as a call to collective conscience, celebrating the diversity of languages, cultures, and beliefs as the richness of a united people.

Mr. Sakira invited all social and institutional components of the province to engage in the planned activities and moments of fraternity throughout the week. Addressing the beneficiaries of the PRECEL kits, he urged them to make good use of the support to improve their living conditions sustainably.
