Ouagadougou: A free screening campaign for cervical cancer is set to take place at Bogodogo Hospital on December 1st and 2nd, 2025. The Burkina Faso Society of Pathology (SOBUPATH) has extended an invitation to women across the region to participate in this significant health initiative aimed at reducing cervical cancer morbidity.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the campaign is organized in conjunction with the 4th Congress of Pathology Days, scheduled from December 3rd to 5th, 2025. The screenings will be conducted at the Bogodogo University Hospital Center (CHU-B) in Ouagadougou, with activities planned in the pathology and cytology departments, as well as the gynecology-obstetrics and reproductive medicine department of the hospital.

The campaign aims to promote early detection of cervical cancer, with organizers emphasizing the role of early screening in preventing the disease from advancing to a critical stage. The initiative will include various activities such as screening tests, personalized advice based on results, referrals for necessary treatments, and awareness sessions on the importance of regular gynecological follow-ups.

Professor Aime Sosthene OUEDRAOGO, who heads the Department of Anatomical and Cytological Pathology at CHU-B, highlighted the significance of the campaign, urging women to take advantage of the screenings given the public health challenge posed by gynecological cancers.

This initiative by SOBUPATH is part of its ongoing mission to enhance prevention and diagnosis strategies for cervical cancer, with the aim of improving public health outcomes across Burkina Faso.
