Ouagadougou: The Association for Religious Tolerance and Intercommunity Dialogue (ATR/DI) has reported a positive outcome following an 18-month initiative focusing on education in citizenship and social cohesion across Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ATR/DI organized a workshop in Ouagadougou to present the results of the "Civic Space" project. This project facilitated educational activities in citizenship and social cohesion among traditional, customary, and religious actors in all thirteen regions of the country from May 2024 to November 2025.

Drissa Modeste Sessouma, the Secretary General of ATR/DI, shared a positive assessment of the "Civic Space" project, which was aimed at enhancing education for citizenship and social cohesion. Over the 18 months, several activities were conducted, including forum theatres to engage the population on civic issues, conferences and debates on citizenship and human rights, and training sessions for Civil Society Organizations to boost their capacities in project management and community awareness.

Naba Boulga, a beneficiary from the city of Bassinko, expressed his satisfaction with the project, noting that the training helped him manage community issues more effectively. He highlighted the creation of a WhatsApp group for traditional chiefs as a significant achievement, fostering ongoing communication and problem-solving among community leaders.

Maimouna Palenfo, another project beneficiary and ATR/DI focal point in the Djoro region, praised the initiative for teaching her to foster mutual respect and strengthen community ties. The workshop provided her with tools to promote dialogue and solidarity within her community.

Ms. Fatou Some/So, Vice-President of ATR/DI, expressed satisfaction with the project's impact, emphasizing its role in combating terrorism and promoting community solidarity. She thanked the project leaders and advocated for the continuation of "Civic Space" for the benefit of the population.
