Hounde Municipal Police Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Cross-Country Race

Tuy: High Commissioner Issiaka Segda launched the activities marking the 30th anniversary of the municipal police in Hounde, under the theme 'Municipal police, thirty years in the service of the people: assessment, challenges and prospects'.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebrations began with a popular cross-country race involving civilians and the Defense and Security Forces, fostering a spirit of unity. Participants also engaged in an aerobics session at the municipal police headquarters following the race through the city.

The official opening ceremony featured remarks from Bakiebie Bamouni, Commander of the Hounde Municipal Police and President of the Organizing Committee, who appreciated the community's support and participation. He acknowledged the achievements and challenges of the municipal police, encouraging public involvement in the activities scheduled from December 4th to 6th.

Salam Ouedraogo, the provincial president of OTRAF/Tuy and ceremony sponsor, expressed gratitude for the community's trust and urged public support for the municipal police's duties, particularly emphasizing the importance of road safety.

Nazi Bani, first vice-president of the Hounde special delegation, lauded the dedication of the municipal police officers and encouraged public backing for their efforts in maintaining order and safety.

High Commissioner Issiaka Segda highlighted the municipal police's contributions to reducing incivility and enhancing community life. He honored the efforts of past and present officers, acknowledging those who have fallen in the line of duty, and commended the current officers for their service.

The commemoration, which runs from December 4 to 6, 2025, also includes a motorized parade focusing on helmet use and a public conference on the municipal police's missions.
