Seno: The Secretary General (SG) of the Sahel region, Auguste Kinda, presided over the monthly national flag-raising ceremony on Tuesday at the 41st Mobile Gendarmerie Squadron (EGM) in Dori. The event, which brought together various government bodies and the defense and security forces (FDS), served as an opportunity for recognition, review, and a call to action for social cohesion and development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary General praised the daily commitment of the FDS and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP). He highlighted their ongoing efforts in operations to retake territory, secure the population, and restore state authority. Mr. Kinda urged the men and women working on the ground to stay the course, reminding them that their sacrifices form the foundation for the gradual return of peace to the Sahel.
Referring to the highlights of November 2025, the Secretary General cited the regional campaign to combat schistosomiasis, conducted in the health districts of Dori, Gorom-Gorom, and Djibo. The installation of the regional committee for the Thomas Sankara memorial and the organization of the first regional fair for non-timber forest products were also highlights.
Secretary General Kinda recalled the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the National Armed Forces (FAN), celebrated with sobriety but intensity, as well as the organization of the regional leisure event which mobilized young people and cultural actors. November was also marked by a strengthening of institutional capacities, notably with the appointment and installation of the new regional director of customs for the North. This renewal contributes to improving administrative governance and the efficiency of technical services in the region.
The Secretary General stressed the need for all stakeholders to work together in consultation and solidarity in order to accelerate development actions and consolidate social cohesion. The raising of colours in December thus transformed into a moment of assessment and mobilization, recalling the challenges but also the progress made. Mr. Kinda reiterated the regional administration's commitment to continue, with all stakeholders, efforts for a lasting return of peace and development to the Sahel.
