Guido: The Minister of Health, Dr. Robert Kargougou, inaugurated a Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) on Friday afternoon in Guido, Reo commune, a facility made possible thanks to Japanese cooperation and local resources mobilized by the community. In the presence of the governor of the North region, Adama Jean Yves Bere, the governor of Kadiogo, Abdoulaye Bassinga, sponsor of the ceremony, the co-sponsor Anicet Bazie, the customary and religious authorities as well as a strong mobilization of the population, the minister hailed a major step forward for access to care in the area.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative is fully aligned with the vision of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, who intends to ensure that no Burkinabe has to travel more than 10 kilometers to access healthcare. Dr. Kargougou expressed his satisfaction with the commitment of the municipality of Reo and its partners, which enabled the construction of a modern center that meets the needs of the population.
The Guido Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) includes a dispensary, a maternity ward, a shared services building housing a medical supply depot, a room for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), a store, as well as a kitchen, a meeting room, an incinerator, a borehole, latrines, and an oven. This health complex will serve an estimated population of over 5,000 inhabitants.
Minister Kargougou congratulated the prefect, head of the special municipal delegation, and all his staff for the successful execution of the project, noting that it exemplifies the importance of decentralization and collective responsibility in local development. He also emphasized the need to maintain a high level of functionality at the center, a challenge that, in his view, requires the participation of everyone: residents, healthcare workers, local authorities, and community members.
He invited the residents of Guido and the surrounding villages to use their new center, reiterating that he would implement national healthcare access strategies, including free care for women and children. He recommended professionalism, ethical conduct, and high-quality patient care to the healthcare workers.
The minister concluded by encouraging health officials to ensure the proper management of the primary healthcare center and urged beneficiaries to preserve this public asset. He thanked regional and provincial authorities for their ongoing efforts in the area of health. After his thanks, Dr. Robert Kargougou officially declared the Guido CSPS open, before expressing wishes for the good use of the facility for the benefit of the population.
