Ouagadougou: The Safan© town hall hosted a training session for principal and delegated civil registry officers from the municipality's secondary centers. This event was organized under the guidance of Ali Traor©, President of the special delegation of the municipality.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the session, conducted by Mr. Boureima Ou©draogo, Secretary General of the Mouhoun province, aimed to enhance the skills of those responsible for managing civil status. This sector is critical for public administration and generating reliable data for development.
The training covered the importance of civil status for administration and research, the legal and institutional frameworks, and standards and procedures for maintaining and preserving civil status records. Participants also learned about reconstituting registers, birth registration standards, and procedures for rectifying and canceling records.
The trainer emphasized that the acquired knowledge would enable officers to execute their duties more effectively. He highlighted the complexity of the subject and urged participants to be rigorous and adhere to professional ethics.
The session also served to highlight good practices and identify shortcomings in record maintenance and preservation. Funded by the Programme for Resilience, Local Governance and Basic Services (PREGOLS), this initiative seeks to professionalize and sustain the public civil status service.
The trainer expressed his commitment to supporting the officers in their roles and appreciated the interest shown in the training. Ali Traor© encouraged the new civil status officers and assured them that measures would be implemented to ensure the continuity and effectiveness of their actions.
