Ouagadougou: A series of military operations carried out by the Combat Forces in Burkina Faso between late November and December 2025 has led to the successful neutralization of several terrorists specializing in the deployment of explosive drones.
According to Burkina Information Agency, on December 25, 2025, in the Yaadga region, combat units detected and pursued pairs of terrorists attempting to utilize mini-drones to drop explosives in the Titao area. The terrorists were eventually tracked to a dense forest where they were killed by their own explosives, which they failed to release in time.
In another operation on November 30, 2025, in the Nakambe region, forces precisely targeted and destroyed criminals preparing to use explosive drones, eliminating both the terrorists and their equipment. The following day, December 1, 2025, another group attempting a similar assault was tracked and neutralized as they tried to retreat to their base.
Continuing their efforts, the Combat Forces intercepted and destroyed terrorist logistical resources on December 2, 2025, as the groups attempted to relocate their supplies to the Kabonga forest.
In the Tapoa region, on December 1, 2025, a terrorist cell attempting to attack the town of Kantchari with mini-drone explosives was tracked back to its base, where they were planning further strikes. The forces successfully apprehended and neutralized the terrorists along with their explosives.
Furthermore, on December 19, 2025, the Special Intervention Group of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR 26), stationed in Ougarou, executed an operation against individuals attempting to plant explosives on the Piega bridge. The potential threat was neutralized before any damage could be inflicted.
These operations underscore the enhanced capabilities of the Combat Forces to preemptively address and dismantle emerging terrorist tactics, particularly those involving armed drones.
