Grand Doctor to Lead Artistic Tour for Territorial Restoration in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou: The Waguess cultural association, led by the renowned musician Alphonse Sana Kabore, known as Grand Docteur, announced an upcoming artistic tour aimed at supporting territorial restoration across three key regions in Burkina Faso. The tour, titled "My Contribution for the Restoration of the Homeland," is scheduled to commence on February 1, 2026, and will span two months, covering the regions of Yadega, Koulses, and Nando.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Grand Docteur, who previously went by the name Petit Docteur, is spearheading this initiative through the Waguess cultural association. The tour is designed to deliver numerous morale-boosting messages under the theme "Burkinab¨ Artists, What Commitment to Sovereignty and Peace in My Country?" The journey will kick off in Roco, a village in Bam Province, before proceeding to the Boulkiemde and Yatenga Provinces.

During a press conference held at the Thomas Sankara Memorial in Ouagadougou, Grand Docteur emphasized the tour's objective to uplift the spirits of both the local population and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), particularly in areas grappling with significant security challenges.

The tour will feature a series of free concerts, awareness campaigns, and advocacy efforts aimed at promoting social cohesion. Grand Docteur explained that these activities will take place in informal bars and public spaces, while awareness sessions will be conducted in schools, universities, and community organizations. Key topics will include the detrimental effects of drugs, adulterated alcohol, and peaceful coexistence. Over thirty artists are expected to participate, lending their voices to this significant cause.

The organizers estimate the project's cost at 8,500,000 CFA francs, with the intention of raising public awareness and bolstering government efforts in achieving peace and national sovereignty.
