Zondoma: The Special Delegation of the municipality of Gourcy held the first session of its consultation framework on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. The review of the implementation of the 2025 activities and the waste management system were on the agenda for the discussions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the President of the special delegation of the municipality of Gourcy, Bosso Toe Kaba Tere, stated that this consultation framework will allow participants to learn about the activities carried out in 2025 and to contribute to the improvement of governance in the community. The session served as a platform for accountability and promoting citizen participation, which the special delegation of Gourcy has regularly fulfilled in accordance with the requirements of the General Code of Local Authorities. Representatives from the Village Development Committees (CVDs) of the 40 villages in the municipality, association leaders, and representatives from decentralized technical services actively participated in the session.

The report, presented by the Secretary General of the town hall, Lacinan Ouedraogo, highlighted numerous achievements across various sectors such as education, health, water and sanitation, security, youth, land, and civil protection. The special delegation, currently composed of 18 members, has also produced 22 resolutions, primarily financial in nature, to address the growing needs of the population.

In summary, the special delegation operated on a total budget of 237,318,022 for the year 2025. The waste management system and the implementation of the Community Project for Recovery and Stabilization of the Sahel (PCRSS) by the Rural World Association (AMR) were also presented to the participants. Stakeholders commended the municipal executive for its performance and made recommendations to strengthen order around markets and traffic management, continue demarcation of school and health zones, and implement recovery initiatives for returnees who must rebuild their lives in their villages of origin.

To meet the challenges in 2026, the special delegation plans to acquire a Municipal Development Plan (PCD), establish a municipal police force, construct a modern market, and build a large-capacity conference hall. Additionally, a radar is reportedly being acquired to combat speeding in the town of Gourcy.

According to the organizers, this first session was made possible thanks to the support of the REELS Project and the Rural World Association (AMR).
