Nahouri: The National Coordination for the Fight Against Drugs (CNLD), in collaboration with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) of Nahouri, conducted a joint mission from April 27 to April 28, 2026, to curb the entry of drugs and adulterated drinks into the province of Nahouri amidst a security crisis.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the mission aimed to deter and secure crucial entry points into the national territory, preventing harmful substances from infiltrating. Luc Kabore, the provincial director of the national police in Nahouri, stated that this initiative was particularly important given the current security situation.
The operation, which ran day and night, focused on strategic areas such as the city of P´ and the localities of Guelwongo, Songo, Dakola, and Tiakane. The efforts resulted in the seizure of alcoholic products, including eight one-liter bottles of a liqueur named "Patron," 75 kg of prohibited goods, seven tons of smuggled fertilizer, a Mercedes-Benz van, and the arrest of two individuals.
Chief Superintendent of Police Jean Marie Kouraogo, head of the cooperation and partnership department at the Permanent Secretariat of the National Coordination for the Fight Against Drugs (SP/CNLD), emphasized the operation's importance in showing national authorities' commitment to securing borders and protecting Burkinabe youth from consuming adulterated drinks. He highlighted that the primary goal was to save lives, noting the immediate danger posed by these products, especially to young people.
Kouraogo praised the forces involved and confirmed that similar operations would continue, led by internal security services to combat clandestine practices. Luc Kabore also commended the professionalism of the officers engaged in the mission.
For this operation, the SP-CNLD mobilized resources from the national and municipal police, customs, the national gendarmerie, the Water and Forestry Service, and the Republican Security Company (CRS).
