Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Economy and Finance recorded an execution rate of 60.66% of its performance contract as of June 30, 2026, according to the results of the department's six-monthly evaluation, chaired Thursday in Ouagadougou by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Oudraogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Aboubacar Nacanabo, indicated that these results were achieved in an international context marked by persistent economic shocks, geopolitical tensions, and the demands of regaining national territory. Despite this environment, the department continued its ongoing reforms and recorded several achievements, particularly in resource mobilization.
In the first half of the year, revenue collected amounted to 1,939 billion FCFA, representing a 58% achievement rate. The Ministry also mobilized 162 billion FCFA for the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP), 200 billion FCFA for the first phase of the Ouagadougou-Bobo-Dioulasso highway, over 20 billion FCFA for local authorities, and 7 billion FCFA for research and innovation.
Addressing the Diaspora Bonds operation, the Minister announced the mobilization of 151 billion FCFA, exceeding the initial target of 125 billion FCFA. "These funds will be used to finance structuring projects in the mining, cement, brewing, and soap-making sectors. This operation has demonstrated significant potential, provided the necessary financial engineering is implemented to mobilize the resources," he explained.
Regarding reforms, Mr. Nacanabo highlighted the adoption of the RELANCE Plan, which is the new reference framework for the economic and social development of Burkina Faso for the next five years. He also cited the progress made in setting up the Sovereign Mining Fund, the Banking Holding and the National Printing Office, which is currently being operationalized.
The minister also highlighted the progress made in the digital transformation of public finances. The rate of digitization of public procurement procedures has reached 61%, while the rollout of certified electronic invoicing, the SICAD platform for land management, and the e-BDT platform continues in order to modernize government financial services.
For the second half of the year, the department intends to intensify the mobilization of internal resources, accelerate the digitization of public financial services, and strengthen the fight against fraud. "Many challenges remain, and our country's development ambitions demand greater commitment. The results achieved encourage us, but above all, they compel us to pursue reforms with even greater determination in order to meet the expectations of the Burkinabe people," the minister stated.
