Ziou CEB Launches Cultural and Sporting Activities with Focus on Resilience and Perseverance

Nahouri: The Basic Education District (CEB) of the commune of Ziou, located 60 km east of P´, launched its cultural and sporting activities this Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Guelwongo. The ceremony was presided over by the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the commune of Ziou, Salam Maran©.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Ziou Basic Education District (CEB) officially launched its cultural and sporting activities with a popular cross-country race that brought together education stakeholders and students. The event saw the participation of supervisors, teachers, students, and parents, all of whom were mobilized for this significant occasion.

The athletes began their run from the Guelwongo A school, proceeding to the border with Ghana before returning to the starting point for an aerobics session. Following this, an exhibition match took place between the Ziou CEB teachers' team and the Guelwongo village team, which resulted in a 3-0 victory for the village team. The opening match featured Guelwongo B school against Guelwongo 2 school, with the latter securing a 1-0 win.

Augustin Kaghembega, the CCEB (Community Development and Education Center) of Ziou, emphasized the importance of these activities in fostering a child's holistic development, highlighting how they help instill values of discipline and perseverance. Salam Maran©, the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the Ziou municipality, praised the resilience of the teaching staff and the determination of the students, acknowledging their efforts in making the event successful.

This edition saw 23 schools register to participate in various disciplines, including football, athletics, traditional dances, theater, recitals, and ballet. The first day of activities concluded in a friendly and convivial atmosphere.
