Kampti: The Prefect of the Kampti Department, Mr. Massahiba Aime Soulama, accompanied by the Secretary General of the Kampti Town Hall, the Commissioner of the Galgouli Border Police, and the Head of the CRS Detachment, conducted a field mission on Friday, January 30, 2026, to the farming hamlet of Nassartenga, located in the village of Larbi, Kampti Department. This visit aimed to reaffirm the integrity of the territory following a border incident on January 27, 2026, which resulted in the detention of the village chief of Nassartenga.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this mission was primarily aimed at exchanging information with the land chief and local populations about the border incident, but above all at reassuring the occupants of the farming hamlet about the permanent availability of the administrative authorities and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) to administer and secure the entire national territory, including Nassartenga. "The farming hamlet of Nassartenga is an integral part of Burkina Faso's territory. The people must go about their activities freely, in strict compliance with the security guidelines issued by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP)," the prefect stressed.
The delegation observed a gradual return to calm, following the reassuring presence of the administration and the Defense and Security Forces, which was welcomed by the local population. Faced with attempts at disinformation and provocation, the administrative authorities call on the population to remain mobilized, vigilant, and united, while refusing to yield to any form of manipulation or provocation likely to disturb peace and social cohesion.
It should be noted that previously, on January 29, 2026, the commander of BIR 15 had visited the area with the same objective of restoring peace among the occupants of the premises. In terms of recommendations, the administrative authorities advocated the continuation of periodic missions in the area in order to reaffirm the territorial belonging of the Nassartenga farming hamlet, the establishment of frameworks for exchanges between border administrative authorities, as well as the acceleration of the process of demarcation and materialization of the Burkina Faso-Republic of C´te d'Ivoire border.
This mission thus reaffirms, clearly and responsibly, the sovereignty of Burkina Faso over its entire territory, while prioritizing peace, citizen vigilance and respect for institutional channels.
