Nando: Yargatenga High School hosted the ceremony marking the end of the first six-week phase of civic and patriotic training on Saturday, February 7, 2026, an initiative of the Burkinabe government to strengthen civic and patriotic values among students.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this program equipped learners with several essential skills, including civic responsibility, patriotism, a sense of duty, discipline, respect for authority, and commitment to serving the common good. The modules also covered topics such as living together, hygiene, and the dangers of drugs and school violence.
In his address, the President of the Yargatenga Special Delegation, Mahamadou Saramb©, praised the strong enthusiasm this initiative generated among students, educators, and parents. He emphasized that this training helped instill values of discipline, solidarity, and respect for state symbols.
"The trained students have shown themselves to be committed and ready to positively impact those around them," he said, while thanking the initiators and supervisors for their commitment.
He also expressed the wish to see the program extended to a larger number of students, in line with the President of Faso's vision for the emergence of a disciplined, responsible and patriotic generation.
Speaking on behalf of the students in the intermediate classes, the student representative, Pircassou Oumou, conveyed the beneficiaries' gratitude to the President of Faso and the Government for organizing this civic and patriotic training.
She indicated that for six weeks, the students learned about solidarity, living together, civic and patriotic values, as well as the importance of hygiene and the risks associated with drug use and violence in schools.
This training commits them to becoming disciplined, responsible students deeply attached to the ideals of the Nation, she added.
For his part, Chief Warrant Officer Soni© Banon, commander of the Yargatenga territorial gendarmerie brigade, expressed his satisfaction with the smooth running of the training, while thanking the administrative and educational authorities for their support.
This first phase of civic and patriotic education marks an important step in promoting civic values in schools in Yargatenga, with the ambition of training a youth aware of their rights and duties, and resolutely committed to serving the Nation.
