Mouhoun: The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the commune of Safan©, Ali Traor©, attended a significant event in the village of Bona, where a film project dedicated to the history of the Bwa-Marka revolt of 1915-1916 was screened. The film initiative is spearheaded by Burkina Faso Radio and Television Broadcasting (RTB2) D©dougou in collaboration with the Bass© association, under the leadership of Samnou Dembel©.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this cultural and memorial initiative seeks to preserve national history by spotlighting a pivotal moment in the resistance against colonial penetration in Mouhoun. The project also aims to raise awareness about the importance of remembering historical events. The promoters of the initiative have responded to the call from the President of Faso, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traor©, to return to the roots and better understand national history to inform present and future decisions.
The project highlights the bravery of Bona village, known for its role as a resistance stronghold, with hopes of elevating its status as a future tourist site. It aims to inspire current and future generations with the legacy of courage and resistance exhibited by their ancestors, contributing to the dynamic of the progressive people's revolution.
Ali Traor©, the President of the special delegation, praised the dedication of the project team for emphasizing the heroic resistance against colonial rule. He emphasized that dignity and freedom are achieved through sacrifices and urged the community to embrace this initiative, supporting the reconstruction of this significant chapter in local history. Traor© also noted that understanding the past is crucial for sustainable development and reiterated his support for actions promoting social cohesion.
The screening was intended to be a moment for reflection and collective retrospection for the attendees. The village chief, Paton Abdoulaye Kot©, along with El Hadj Kot© Zoh© Drissa, president of the Bona CVD, endorsed the initiative, expressing gratitude to local authorities for their involvement in preserving historical heritage.
A subsequent meeting is scheduled in Safan© to continue the film project's screening, aiming to enhance public engagement with this memorial work. Ultimately, the film project aspires to serve as an educational and heritage tool, fostering the transmission of values such as courage, dignity, and patriotism, which are integral to the Bwa-Marka communities and the broader Burkinab¨ population.
