Boulgou: The Boulgou province has officially instituted a rotating flag-raising ceremony on the first Tuesday of each month. The announcement was made Monday by the province's High Commissioner, Dom¨gb¨gui¨re Constantin Dabir©, during the flag-raising ceremony marking the launch of this initiative, which has both administrative and civic implications.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this decision aims to strengthen attachment to the symbols of the Nation, promote social cohesion, and foster better collaboration between the driving forces of the province. The High Commissioner emphasized that the raising of the colours is a solemn act reflecting the attachment of the people to national values, particularly unity, living together, and social cohesion. "It is no longer necessary to reiterate that this symbolic act reflects our commitment to the Nation and the values we share," he stated.
Following successful pilot programs in previous years, the provincial administration deemed it necessary to expand the initiative to bring together, in a different format, all the key stakeholders in the Boulgou region. The inaugural ceremony was held at the Humanitarian Action Center. According to the provincial authorities, the rotating nature of the flag-raising ceremony will allow for a better understanding of the various decentralized services, the sharing of important information, and the strengthening of collaboration among administrative, technical, and social actors.
The High Commissioner also commended the community's commitment to implementing community initiatives, particularly in the area of security. He cited, among other things, the completion of the perimeter fence around the Niangho police station and the commencement of work on the perimeter fence around the Garango police station, both carried out and funded by local communities. "These are initiatives born from the will of the people and carried out by them. They deserve to be encouraged," he stated, announcing supervisory visits with security officials to support these actions.
He expressed his hope that such initiatives could be extended to other sectors, particularly education, and urged residents to report any community action so that it could be supported and encouraged by the administration. Acknowledging some shortcomings observed during the ceremony, the High Commissioner called for understanding, emphasizing that the administration is engaged in a process of continuous learning and improvement.
He then announced the upcoming provincial meeting to develop an official schedule for the rotating flag-raising ceremony, inviting newly appointed officials to introduce themselves at this forum. By establishing the rotating flag-raising ceremony on the first Tuesday of each month, the Boulgou province aims to strengthen civic engagement, enhance administrative coordination, and promote community involvement in local development.
