Sourou: The High Commissioner of the Gourma province, Silas Nacanabo, officially launched the 2026 "Sport for All" initiative in Fada N'gourma on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. This event, which brought together public officials and citizens of the region, is part of a broader effort to promote physical activity and strengthen social bonds within the community.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Gourma Provincial Directorate of Sport and Recreation, responsible for the technical coordination of this event, ensured its smooth implementation, guaranteeing the success of the sporting activities. The initiative, marked by strong participation, aims to improve the physical and mental health of participants while fostering a spirit of solidarity. The objective is to make sport accessible to everyone, thereby strengthening the values of solidarity and social cohesion within the Gourma province.
The High Commissioner emphasized that this initiative offers everyone a moment of relaxation after a workday, often marked by stress. He expressed his satisfaction with the positive impact of the initiative and encouraged citizens to participate in these activities. Silas Nacanabo stressed that physical exercise not only promotes health but also productivity at work.
According to human rights assistant Ahmed Balima, after a day spent at the office, these sporting moments are a real breath of fresh air and allow participants to feel liberated. The partnership with TELECEL, the event's official sponsor, was crucial. The company provided the sound system and necessary equipment, thus facilitating the organization of the activity. "It is thanks to the support of the High Commissioner that we were able to finalize this partnership," stated Boilihamou Hedwige Ouattara/Lompo, the provincial director in charge of sports for Gourma.
