Koosin: Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Nouna, Joseph Sama, presided over the Mass for the parish pilgrimage of Djibasso Parish to Tienekuy on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. In his homily, Bishop Emeritus Joseph Sama invited the faithful to live their faith fully by being bearers of joy and embodying Christian values in their daily lives. 'Let us be light and salt in our communities,' he exhorted.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this celebration was held to commemorate the apparition of the Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes. Christian tradition states that the Virgin Mary conveyed a message of prayer and faith, associated with the healing of the sick. Thus, every February 11, the Church dedicates a special day to this event.
In the parish of Djibasso, the faithful have been making the pilgrimage since 1964. This grotto is one of the first of its kind in Burkina Faso and is a place of devotion for many believers. The ceremony brought together the three parishes of the Diocese of Nouna: Djibasso, Doumbala-Zekuy, and Bomborokuy.
