Poni: The driving forces of Dj´r´ region organized a demonstration to express their support for President Ibrahim Traor©. Starting from the grounds of Centre A and B schools, the demonstrators marched through the main thoroughfares of the city before stopping at the monument dedicated to the Father of the Revolution, Thomas Sankara. The procession then proceeded to the governorate, where a statement was handed to the governor of the region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, spokesperson Wninzi© Da, speaking on behalf of civil society, highlighted that the Dj´r´ region, like other parts of the country, has been severely affected by terrorist attacks. However, he welcomed the improvement in the security situation observed since 2024, attributing it to the joint actions of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), under the leadership of the President of Faso.
The speakers reiterated their commitment to the ideals of freedom, sovereignty, and national dignity. They acknowledged resistance from forces described as imperialist but assured that the Burkinab¨ people's determination remains steadfast in the face of attempts at destabilization. The demonstrators also welcomed the extradition of former Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba from Togo, calling for the rigorous application of the law against him and any of his possible accomplices. A warning was issued to internal and external actors accused of supporting actions contrary to national interests.
The statement concluded with a call for national unity and the continuation of the momentum undertaken to build a strong and sovereign Burkina Faso. Upon receiving the statement, the governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, welcomed the mobilization, considering it evidence of renewed support for the Head of State. He noted the gradual improvement in the security situation since 2023, emphasizing that movement is now possible across a large part of the country, including in the region.
Mr. Barro also indicated that, alongside the fight against terrorism, development actions are being implemented through initiatives such as Faso Mªbo, "D m Sira," and the National Days of Patriotic Commitment, as well as various programs in the fields of education and health. Representatives of women and the elderly took turns expressing their support for the President of Faso and reaffirming their commitment to social cohesion, the defense of the homeland, and the success of actions undertaken for the development of the country.
