Koulpelogo: The High Commissioner of the province of Koulpelogo, Sadou Ouedraogo, met with the key stakeholders of the communes of Yonde and Ouargaye in the meeting room of the Ouargaye town hall, in order to exchange views on issues of local development and social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, in his address, the High Commissioner commended the strong mobilization of the population and their unwavering commitment to the development and reclamation of the provincial territory. He expressed his wishes for peace and prosperity in 2026, while also paying a heartfelt tribute to the resilience of the people.

He congratulated the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for the sacrifices made on the ground, urging them to continue their efforts in the dynamic of securing and restoring the authority of the State.

Addressing public officials, Sadou Ouedraogo called on them to be more committed and responsible, urging them to banish corruption and bureaucratic red tape. He exhorted them to see themselves first and foremost as servants of the people.

He also invited all citizens to promote peace through tolerance, solidarity, and the ancestral values of living together.

In his welcoming speech, the prefect, president of the special delegation of Ouargaye, Mahamadou Soulama, expressed his gratitude to the High Commissioner for the initiative of this meeting.

He welcomed the presence of traditional and religious authorities, the security forces, and the volunteers, while congratulating them for the efforts made to allow the populations of the different communes to regain peace.

According to the prefect, this meeting offers the people of Yonde and Ouargaye the opportunity to speak directly with the administrative authorities and submit their grievances.

Speaking on behalf of His Majesty Naaba Sanem Dima of Ouargaye, Goud-naaba congratulated and encouraged the FDS (Forces de Defense et de Securite) and the VDP (Volontaires de Defense et de Protection) for their work in retaking the territory. He also implored the spirits of the ancestors to guide all those working for security and the return of peace.

In turn, representatives of customary and religious authorities, the provincial coordination of women, citizen watchdogs, VDP, and several other stakeholders present in the room took the floor to express their concerns and proposals.

Among the grievances raised were the absence of the Faso Mªbo program in Ouargaye and the lack of completion of the Ouargaye dam. Participants also advocated for infrastructure development in the province.

In response, the High Commissioner provided clarification on the various concerns raised and pledged to pass on the grievances to the relevant authorities.

For her part, the provincial coordinator for women, Ms. Zombre Celine nee Soule, urged women to adopt responsible behavior in the fight against insecurity. She invited them to support the administrative authorities, the security forces, and the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) in the efforts to reclaim the territory and restore peace.

This meeting is part of a dynamic of permanent dialogue between the administration and the people, with a view to strengthening social cohesion and consolidating the gains in security and development in the province of Koulpelogo.
