Douna: The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the Douna commune, Abdoul Aziz Karambiri, concluded the civic and patriotic training activities for students in Douna, a rural commune located 9 km from Sindou, the capital of the Leraba province, on Saturday, February 14, 2026. He commended the students for their exemplary discipline and commitment throughout their training.
According to Burkina Information Agency, 1,400 students from the rural commune of Douna underwent a six-week training program focused on civic responsibility, patriotism, discipline, and civic engagement. The closing ceremony was held at the Douna departmental high school, attended by Mamadou Traore, the provincial director in charge of Secondary Education for Leraba.
The event featured the interpretation of the national anthem in the national language Dioula, a parade of students organized into five squadrons under the guidance of instructors from the Defense and Security Forces, and various physical exercises, all of which underscored the dedication of the students.
Following the parade, the ceremony continued with students and officials gathering under the flagpole. Jacques Sanfo, the head of teachers, offered words of encouragement to the students. Student representative Mariam Kara shared their appreciation for the training, expressing gratitude to the trainers and teachers for the initiative.
Mamadou Traore praised the initiative by the country's authorities and urged students to incorporate the lessons learned into their daily lives to become role models that support the vision of societal progress. He advised students to steer clear of violence and the use of illicit substances.
Abdoul Aziz Karambiri lauded both the discipline and commitment of the students and extended congratulations to the supervisors and teachers. The students then pledged to apply the knowledge gained over the six weeks as they stood beneath the flag.
