Meguet: A police officer shot and killed his pregnant wife and daughter before taking his own life early in the morning of February 18, 2026, in Meguet, a town located about 25 km north of Zorgho, the capital of the Ganzourgou province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the police officer, stationed in Koudougou in the Centre-West region, had arrived the previous day, February 17, to visit his family. At approximately 6:40 a.m. on February 18, he used his weapon and opened fire on his wife, a pregnant teacher working in the Salogo Basic Education District and residing in Tampuinkin, Sector 2 of Meguet, as well as on their young daughter, a student in the second grade.

After his actions, the officer took his own life.

Administrative, security, and health authorities, as well as the population, mobilized at the scene of the tragedy.

The various remains were buried in the Meguet cemetery on the evening of February 18th.

The motive for this act is not yet known. An investigation has been opened to establish the exact circumstances of the events.
