Koulp©logo: The governor of the Nakamb© region, Yiy© Abraham Somdo, conducted a familiarization tour on Thursday in the Koulp©logo province, particularly in the communes of Sangha and Yargatenga. This mission is part of his ongoing meetings with administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as with community leaders and the local population.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in Sangha, the regional delegation was welcomed at the town hall by the municipal authorities, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and a strong mobilization of the inhabitants. The Governor was accompanied by the High Commissioner of the province of Koulp©logo, regional and provincial officials of decentralized services, including education, health, police, gendarmerie, water and forestry, and customs.
The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Sangha, Mamadou Coulibaly, welcomed the visit, describing it as an honor for the commune and paid tribute to the FDS and the VDP for their commitment to the security of the population. High Commissioner Sadou Ou©draogo sent messages of encouragement to the fighting forces and actors in the education and health sectors, while inviting the population to demonstrate civic responsibility and patriotism.
Governor Abraham Somdo commended the administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, acknowledging the efforts made by the decentralized services in a context marked by security challenges. Addressing the security situation, he urged the population to support the actions undertaken by the authorities and the defense and security forces. Regarding healthcare, he indicated that the government is continuing the construction and equipping of infrastructure to improve access to quality care.
Regarding education, he urged stakeholders to demonstrate resilience and diligence, emphasizing that "peace and development cannot be achieved through disorder." He stressed the need to strengthen civic and patriotic guidance for students to promote discipline, civic-mindedness, and respect for authority. The discussions, held in a room filled beyond capacity, highlighted the residents' interest in the visit. The ceremony concluded with a group photo, followed by a visit to the Sangha Medical Center where the Governor encouraged the medical staff.
The delegation then proceeded to Cinkans©, in the commune of Yargatenga, where they were warmly welcomed by a large crowd. At School A in Cinkans©, the Governor observed the effective use of educational tablets in a fifth-grade class, as part of ongoing educational reforms. At School B, he visited a school chicken coop, an initiative illustrating the commitment of educational stakeholders to maintaining the quality of teaching despite challenges.
Education officials presented the number of teachers and students, as well as the challenges they face, particularly the lack of infrastructure. No«l Segda, Head of the Yargatenga Kibsa Basic Education District (CEB), welcomed the mission's presence and emphasized the importance of collaboration between authorities and the community. The traditional chief, Naba Delwend© of Cinkans©, expressed gratitude for the interest shown in the commune.
At the Cinkans© Medical Center, the delegation was received by healthcare workers led by the chief physician. Their grievances were gathered, and the Governor reaffirmed the regional authorities' commitment to supporting and strengthening basic public services. At the end of this tour, the Governor of Nakamb© praised the resilience, bravery and determination of the people of Sangha and Yargatenga, committed to stability, peace and development despite security challenges.
