Burkina Faso Increases Stake in KIAKA SA to 40%

Burkina faso: The Burkinabe government authorized, on Thursday in the Council of Ministers, an additional 25% stake in the share capital of the mining company KIAKA SA, thus bringing the State's share to 40%. The Council of Ministers has adopted a draft decree authorising this new acquisition of shares in the share capital of KIAKA SA.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the decree aims for an additional participation of the Burkinabe State of 25%, which will increase its share from 15% to 40% in the capital of the said mining company. This decision is part of the application of the provisions of articles 66 and 306 of law n°016-2024/ALT of 18 July 2024 on the Mining Code of Burkina Faso, as well as of decree n°2025-0302/PRES/PM/MEMC/MEF/MJDHRI/MICA of 21 March 2025 on the modalities of constitution and opening of the capital of industrial exploitation companies to the State and Burkinabe investors.

Through this measure, the government intends to strengthen national participation in the exploitation of mineral resources and increase the economic benefits of the sector for the benefit of the State and the people.
