Authorities and Population Strengthen Social Cohesion Through Cross-Country Race in Leo

Sissili/sport: Administrative authorities, defense and security forces as well as the population of the 'city of tubers' took part, this Thursday, March 5, 2026, in the traditional popular civil-military cross-country race for the promotion of social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this edition was organized under the leadership of the special delegation of the municipality of Leo, focusing on strengthening the links between constituted bodies and citizens. The race commenced at the Youth Center at dawn, with participants running through the main streets of Leo, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and conviviality. This monthly event has become a staple in the local social calendar, aiming to promote health through sports while enhancing unity between civilians and uniformed forces.

The session was chaired by the Secretary General of the Sissili Province, Baowinsida Bingo, representing the High Commissioner. In his closing remarks, he praised the participants for their constant mobilization, emphasizing that such initiatives are vital for maintaining trust and solidarity.

For this March edition, the Leo town hall took charge of the organization. After group stretching exercises post-race, the baton was symbolically passed on to continue the calendar. The next event is scheduled for the first Thursday of April 2026, with the Burkinabe Society of Textile Fibers (SOFITEX) set to lead the province's athletes.
