Poni: Women of Bouroum-Bouroum Lead Sanitation Drive on International Women’s Day

Burkina faso: The women of the rural commune of Bouroum-Bouroum organized, on the morning of Saturday, March 7, 2026, a sanitation day dedicated to cleaning several public services in the locality, on the occasion of the celebration of the 169th International Women's Day. For nearly three hours, in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, the participants cleaned several public infrastructures in the municipality of Bouroum-Bouroum.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation notably involved the Health and Social Promotion Centre (CSPS), the town hall, the police station, the environmental service, and the municipal market. This sanitation initiative, carried out with the involvement of the Opportunities and Integration Referents (ROPI) and the support of the special delegation of the Bouroum-Bouroum municipality, is part of the dynamic of preparatory activities marking the commemoration of March 8.

Speaking on behalf of the communal coordinator of women in Bouroum-Bouroum, Nathalie Doly stressed that this action also aims to encourage women to become more involved in the social and economic life of their community. According to her, the goal is also to raise awareness among women so that they break the silence, both at home and in the professional environment. "Women should not be limited to domestic tasks. They must also actively participate in the development of the nation," she stated.

The President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Bouroum-Bouroum, Brahima Kindo, welcomed the strong mobilization of women and congratulated them for this civic initiative. Mr. Kindo also invited them to continue their commitment alongside the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), in order to contribute to the preservation of peace and stability in Burkina Faso.
