Zorgho: The Special Delegation of the Zorgho municipality convened its first ordinary session of the year on March 26 and 27, 2026, under the leadership of Valentin Badolo. The session led to pivotal resolutions targeting adulterated beverages and the regulation of motorized tricycle traffic throughout the city.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation passed a resolution banning the production, importation, possession, sale, and distribution of adulterated liqueurs and spirits, specifically targeting beverages such as "koutoukou" and "quimapous." This measure comes as the sale and consumption of these beverages persist in various areas despite existing legal prohibitions. Authorized agents will conduct inspections to identify and seize such beverages, with violators facing penalties in accordance with applicable regulations.
In response to a series of accidents involving tricycles, the delegation also prohibited the circulation and parking of motorized tricycles on Zorgho's main roads from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Outside these hours, tricycle drivers must be at least 18 years old, possess a category A driver's license, and wear a helmet. The regulation exempts tricycles adapted for individuals with reduced mobility.
The session further authorized the construction of a transit center for children in Sector 3, designed to accommodate children suspected of being trafficking victims. Additionally, the delegation approved the creation of secondary civil registration centers at the urban health center and Zorgho medical center to facilitate birth and death registrations.
Financially, the Standing Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs reported mobilizing over 12.5 million FCFA, attributing success to the merchants' association and advising the President to enhance municipal revenue collection. The first amended budget for 2026, balanced at 527,869,525 FCFA, was adopted by acclamation.
The session also featured the presentation of the 2025 special report and the adoption of administrative and management accounts for the 2025 financial year. Valentin Badolo expressed gratitude for members' active participation and partner support.
