Goulmou: The Secretary General of the Goulmou region, Siaka Ouattara, presided over the launch of the Exemplary Tax Compliance Days in Fada N'Gourma. The initiative, which spans the provinces of Tapoa, Gourma, and Komondjari, with an extension to the Sirba area, calls on the constituted bodies of the Goulmou region to pay their taxes to strengthen trust between the tax administration and citizens.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary General delivered the governor's speech, underscoring the importance of tax compliance amidst the current security and economic challenges facing Burkina Faso. He emphasized that mobilizing internal resources is crucial to guaranteeing the functioning of the State and ensuring socio-economic development.

Ouattara stated that the initiative aims to promote exemplary tax compliance, raise taxpayers' awareness of their obligations, and build trust between the tax administration and citizens. The regional tax director for Goulmou, Mose Rouamba, highlighted that taxes, often perceived as burdensome, are fundamental acts of citizenship that enable the state to fund education, health, infrastructure, and security.

Rouamba acknowledged the efforts of the region's taxpayers, achieving an overall collection rate of 83.13% for 2025, with 85.54% for the State budget and 78.59% for local authorities, despite challenging circumstances. He lauded the exemplary taxpayers as models of tax compliance and encouraged those not yet in compliance to meet their obligations.

To facilitate this, a mobile counter was set up at the ceremony site to assist with declarations and payments. Rouamba also reaffirmed the tax administration's commitment to being more responsive, transparent, and closer to taxpayers, aiming to establish a tax system founded on trust.

The Exemplary Tax Compliance Days are intended as a platform for recognition, awareness, and collective commitment, making taxation a civic reflex and a cornerstone of regional and national development.
