High Commissioner Launches Revolutionary Youth Initiative in Kourittenga

Kourittenga/jrm: The High Commissioner of Kourittenga Province, Moctar Ilboudo, launched the Revolutionary Youth on the March (JRM) initiative this Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2026, amidst strong mobilization from Kourittenga youth. He emphasized that youth are the driving force of any society.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the official launch ceremony of the Revolutionary Youth on the March (JRM) initiative took place in the royal court square of Koupela. The High Commissioner highlighted the significance of the venue, noting its historical importance as a symbol of struggle for independence led by traditional and customary leaders.

The ceremony included a fun run and an aerobics session, replacing traditional ceremonial elements. A minute of silence was observed at the beginning to honor the fighters who died defending the homeland. Awa Nathalie Yeye, the provincial director of Sports for Kourittenga, urged citizens, particularly the youth, to incorporate the initiative's slogans into their daily lives to sustain the revolutionary spirit.

His Majesty Naaba Yemde of Koupela offered his blessings for the initiative, encouraging the youth to embrace the ideals of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP). The event featured a speech by the Head of the Burkinab¨ Government, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, which was followed by the High Commissioner's remarks on the vital role of youth in society.

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Sports, Youth, and Employment, aims to engage young people with the principles of a progressive popular revolution. The High Commissioner, along with other dignitaries, paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, and civilians who have sacrificed for the nation's independence and territorial reconquest.
