Passore: The Yaadga Regional Directorate of Human Rights organized a series of awareness-raising conferences on Tuesday, April 1, 2026, focusing on the dangers of violent extremism and drugs for the students of Passore. The opening ceremony took place in the multipurpose hall of the Yako Provincial Multipurpose High School, overseen by the Provincial Director of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training (DPESFPT), Mimtiri Oualbeogo. This initiative is part of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the main goal of these conferences was to inform and raise awareness among students about the issues related to radicalization and drug use. The aim was to equip students with the necessary tools to resist the harmful influences of violent groups. Two key presentations were made during the training. The first, by Seydou Sourabie, the regional director of human rights in Yatenga, concentrated on preventing radicalization and violent extremism. The second presentation, delivered by Daouda Sori, the central police commissioner of Ouahigouya, focused on combating drugs.
Both presentations highlighted the connection between violent extremism and drug abuse, including their causes and consequences for young people and society. The speakers urged parents to be vigilant and to recognize signs of radicalization or illicit substance use in their children. Mimtiri Oualbeogo, the Director of Primary, Secondary and Vocational Training, praised the initiative and encouraged students to engage with the modules to maximize their benefits. He stressed that a strong nation can only be built through collective awareness.
The event was attended by several key figures, including the Secretary General of the province of Passore, Sadou Ouedraogo, the President of the Special Delegation of Yako, Boukare Zomodo, as well as various representatives from the province's decentralized services.
