Mouhoun: The English club at the Tcheriba departmental high school mobilized students on Friday, April 3, 2026, for a blood drive. This patriotic act, part of the third annual Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation (JNEPPC), resulted in the collection of approximately one hundred units of blood.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the students of the Tcheriba departmental high school participated actively in the national days of patriotic commitment and civic participation due to the urgent need for blood at the national level. For the occasion, a team from the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre (CRTS) aimed to collect at least 80 bags of blood.
This initiative is part of a national context marked by a need to accumulate blood products, particularly due to medical emergencies, childbirth, and the security situation. The principal of the high school, Mathias Koumbem, welcomed the activity, considering it a highly patriotic act. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the commitment of donors, the mobilization of organizers, and the support of the CRTS.
Sabine Toguyeni/Wandaogo, the head of mission, indicated that this initiative addresses a pressing national need. She expressed optimism about achieving the set objective due to the strong mobilization and recalled that previous campaigns have always met or exceeded forecasts.
A student, Emelie Bagoro, shared that her participation was driven by the desire to contribute to saving lives, viewing blood donation as a duty for every Burkinab¨ citizen. Alexis Sawadogo, the focal point, highlighted the regularity of these blood collection operations in the commune's secondary establishments over nearly a decade. He noted that daily quotas are consistently met or exceeded, demonstrating a strong patriotic spirit within the educational community.
To balance the activity with the school's schedule, students were organized into small groups, facilitating blood sampling while ensuring the continuity of courses. This mobilization exemplifies the patriotic commitment and active solidarity of education stakeholders in the commune of Tcheriba.
