Poa: Formerly a geography student, Abdoul Aziz Tiendrebeogo has forged a new path in poultry farming and incubation in the Yonko neighborhood of Poa. AIB met with him on Monday, April 6, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Abdoul Aziz Tiendrebeogo has become a leading figure in self-employment in the Boulkiemde province, specifically in Yonko, in the commune of Poa. The young entrepreneur's destiny could have been written on a map, yet it is in the farmyard and around the incubators that he is now building his future. A former student of Norbert Zongo University, he had to leave the lecture halls in 2021 for personal reasons. Far from giving up, he transformed this turning point in his life into an opportunity by turning to agropastoralism.

'I pursued training in poultry farming and incubation with Levi Zoubga. That's where it all really began,' he confides. But the transition from theory to practice wasn't easy. To self-finance his start, the young man had to combine poultry farming with small business ventures.

Today, although most of his time is devoted to his work, Mr. Tiendrebeogo remains calm about the realities of the sector. "The income doesn't yet cover all my needs, but I am grateful. Livestock farming involves many risks and losses, but you must never give up. If you persevere, it eventually pays off," he explains with conviction.

For this young poultry farmer, entrepreneurship should not be seen as a renunciation of academic knowledge. On the contrary, he urges his peers not to neglect their studies, which, according to him, allow them to better structure their projects. "There is no such thing as a lesser profession. I advise young people to take the plunge, but with patience, because nothing is achieved quickly," he argues.

Despite his determination, Abdoul Aziz Tiendrebeogo faces structural limitations due to a lack of resources. He is therefore appealing to those willing to provide technical and financial support. His ambition is clear: to transition from a small-scale operation to a large-scale enterprise, thereby becoming a catalyst for the integration of other young people in his community.
