Burkina Faso’s Trade Department Achieves 93.77% Execution Rate of Activities in 2025

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, Serge Gnaniodem Poda, announced Wednesday that his department recorded an overall execution rate of 93.77% of its activities as of December 31, 2025, compared to 91.96% in 2024, during the opening of the first ordinary session of the Ministerial Sector Administrative Council (CASEM).

According to Burkina Information Agency, despite the challenging context the country is going through, the Ministry in charge of Industry and Trade has shown resilience, achieving an overall performance rate of 89.47% in 2025, up from 74.70% in 2024, marking an improvement of 14.77%, as stated by Serge Gnaniodem Poda.

Among the ministry's notable achievements were the effective reopening of the Soci©t© Nouvelle Brasserie du Faso (SN-BRAFASO), the strengthening of the Minoterie du Faso (MINOFA) with the construction of the Banfora bakery, and the nationalization of SN CITEC and the Soci©t© sucri¨re de la Como© (SOSUCO).

The ministry also monitored approximately 30,000 economic actors as part of efforts against fraud and restrictive competition practices, and established the Strategic and Consumer Goods Supply and Distribution Company, known as "FASO YAAR".

Further accomplishments included the inauguration of the National Center for Support to the Artisanal Transformation of Cotton (CNATAC), hosting the 5th edition of the Regional Craft Fair (SARA) in Nakamb©, creating 25,269 new businesses, and organizing the national Government/Private Sector meeting.

The minister highlighted that these achievements reflect the commitment and resilience demonstrated by the department's various actors throughout 2025. He expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for these results, which significantly impact Burkina Faso's socio-economic development.

Mr. Poda encouraged his team to build on these successes and maintain the momentum to achieve even more tangible results in 2026. He emphasized the importance of patriotism, selflessness, professionalism, and rigor to face the challenges ahead.

This first session of the CASEM of the department in charge of Industry was dedicated to examining and adopting the 2025 Annual Work Plan (AWP), the monitoring report of the indicators of the 2025-2027 Priority Action Plan (PAP), and the 2025 evaluation report of the ministry's overall performance.
