Bougouriba: The Dolo Leadership and Development Association (ALD), in collaboration with the municipal authorities and the Provincial Directorate of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training of Bougouriba, officially launched the first edition of the school football tournament called "The Leadership Succession" on Saturday, April 11, 2026, on the grounds of the Dolo A public primary school.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the opening match pitted the Saptan General Education College (CEG) against the Niceo High School in a hard-fought and intense encounter. The Niceo students opened the scoring, netting the very first goal in the competition's history. Responding quickly, the Saptan players equalized before taking the lead shortly before halftime, heading into the locker room with a 2-1 advantage.
After the break, CEG de Saptan increased their dominance by scoring a third goal. Despite a late consolation goal from Lycee de Niceo, the Saptan players maintained their lead until the final whistle, winning 3-2.
This inaugural tournament brings together three secondary schools from the Dolo district: the Gnonna Kam Departmental High School in Dolo, the Saptan CEG (General Education College), and the Niceo High School. The schedule includes a match between the Niceo High School and the Gnonna Kam Departmental High School on April 14, 2026, followed by a return match between Saptan and Niceo at the latter's home ground.
According to the chairman of the organizing committee, Magloire Sebastien Kam, the launch ceremony saw a strong turnout from educational stakeholders and the general public. He expressed his delight at the enthusiasm generated by the initiative, believing that the ALD (Local Development Agency) had met a genuine need among school-aged youth.
He also expressed the association's gratitude to the municipal authorities, to education officials at the provincial level, as well as to the heads of institutions and their teams for their support in organizing the event.
Through this tournament, ALD intends to offer a framework for the expression of sporting talents in schools, while reinforcing the values of solidarity, civic-mindedness, and living together between students from the different establishments in the municipality.
The final of the competition is scheduled for May 8, 2026.
