Nando: The Governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean Yves B©r©, presided over the official launch ceremony of 'KS Pulisi', a new community police unit, in Koudougou. This initiative marks a significant shift in the region's approach to community policing, emphasizing prevention and social dialogue in response to a volatile terrorist threat.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the "KS Pulisi" concept, which translates to "Police of the Courtyard" or "Your Police" in the Ly©ly© language, aims to foster a collaborative security effort between law enforcement and local communities. This reform aligns with the vision of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, to reclaim the territory through community engagement.

Governor Adama Jean Yves B©r© highlighted the reform as a "proactive, integrated approach" by the Ministry of Security to align police efforts with urban challenges. He stressed the importance of bridging the gap between police and citizens to identify specific risks in neighborhoods, encouraging intelligent cooperation with the units.

Divisional Police Commissioner Salvador Bougma, the Regional Director of the National Police in Nando, addressed the structural challenges of rapid urbanization and emerging crime. He noted that traditional community policing methods had not yielded the desired results, prompting this pragmatic shift. The new unit's mission includes promoting dialogue, conducting awareness campaigns, reducing incivility, and restoring mutual trust, with a focus on partnership rather than repression.

The "KS Pulisi" concept underwent a pilot phase starting February 24 in Ouagadougou's 6th district. Its implementation in Nando represents a pivotal step before expanding the system nationwide. Regional, traditional, and religious authorities at the launch praised the initiative as a "peace multiplier," emphasizing collective responsibility for security within the framework of resilience promoted by the country's leadership.
