Jean Sylvanus Ouali Appointed as Tapoa Region’s Representative to People’s Legislative Assembly

Fada n'gourma: The civil society groups of the Tapoa region designated Jean Sylvanus Ouali as their representative to the People's Legislative Assembly (ALP) on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, following an extraordinary assembly held in Fada N'Gourma.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the nomination process, launched on April 10, 2026 by the governor of the Eastern region Ram Joseph Kafando, has thus come to an end with the choice of Mr. Ouali, originally from Botou, in the province of Tapoa. This appointment came about following consultations between the various components of the region's driving forces.

Reacting to this choice, Jean Sylvanus Ouali expressed his commitment to working for peace, security and socio-economic development in Tapoa. He also called on the people to unite and work together to meet the challenges facing the region and the country.

In a difficult security context, the new representative affirmed his willingness to contribute, alongside the authorities, to stabilization and development efforts. Several speakers praised his profile and skills, believing that he has the necessary assets to bring the region's concerns to the ALP.

The Tapoa civil society groups, for their part, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Mr. Ouali in the accomplishment of his mission. Jean Sylvanus Ouali is a project manager, specializing in the design, coordination and monitoring of impact initiatives. A former high school and middle school teacher, he is also a writer committed to promoting social and cultural realities. He is married and the father of three children. His substitute is Yemboido Yonli.
