Nieguema: At the NiEguEma site, located in the SamendEni agropole, the Director General of the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC), Mr. Karim TraorE, visited an agricultural area dedicated to tomato production to ensure a sustainable supply of fresh tomatoes for SOBTO. To this end, APEC now benefits from the support of the Ministry of Agriculture through the Faso Agropole Company (SOFA).
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, aligned with Captain Ibrahim TraorE's vision, aims to innovate in tomato production and promote youth employment by structuring a growth-oriented agricultural sector. The project is based on three complementary phases. The first involves the development of high-yield industrial seeds, the result of an agreement with INERA and its partners.
The second phase focuses on identifying suitable sites, transformed into agricultural reference fields. These areas will allow for both the training of producers and intensive production to supply the factories. Finally, the third phase involves distributing seeds to producers to guarantee a high-quality and profitable tomato for industrial processing.
Beyond technical innovation, this initiative reflects a clear political will: to mobilize young people, strengthen the capacities of agricultural volunteers, and integrate vocational school students into a national dynamic. The objective is to create a complete chain, from production to processing, capable of meeting national needs and paving the way for exports.
In thanking the Ministry of Agriculture and all institutional partners, APEC affirms its commitment to the sustainable development of the tomato sector. This project embodies a vision of food sovereignty and the promotion of "buying local," in line with the President's priorities.
