Bobo-dioulasso: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, announced in Bobo-Dioulasso that Ghana will be the guest country of honor for the 22nd edition of the National Culture Week (SNC). This decision aims to promote cultural openness and strengthen African cultural ties.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the selection of Ghana is more than symbolic, representing "a major strategic opportunity" to enhance cultural cooperation and extend the international influence of the SNC. President Traore's remarks were delivered through the Minister of Culture at the official opening of the 22nd Mass of Burkinabe Culture.
Captain Traore emphasized that culture is built through exchanges and dialogue among peoples. He highlighted the importance of "controlled and fraternal" openness to reinforce national cultural identity. He praised Ghana for its rich historical and cultural heritage, noting its traditions and creativity recognized across the continent.
President Traore acknowledged the shared cultural heritages between Ghana and Burkina Faso, from Akan rhythms to Ashanti traditions and contemporary artistic expressions, underscoring their common vision of an Africa rooted in community values and collective memory.
The President expressed gratitude to Ghanaian authorities and people for their participation in this cultural event. He also highlighted the historical ties between the two nations, mentioning that some Burkinabe communities trace their origins to Ghana, particularly Gambaga. He noted the continuous exchanges among border populations, which strengthen integration between the peoples of both countries.
