Koosin: A panel discussion titled 'Koosin Kanu' and various activities took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Nouna, under the auspices of the provincial coordination of citizen watchdog associations. The event saw a large mobilization of local residents around the values of the Popular Progressive Revolution. The initiative was held under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamogo Jean Marie Traore, and the sponsorship of Colonel-Major Alassane Guire, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Agriculture, and the co-sponsorship of the Commander of the 5th Military Region, Lieutenant-Colonel Sosth¨ne Coulibaly. It was chaired by the Governor of the Mouhoun Region, Babo Pierre Bassinga.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the discussions centered around the main theme: "Roles and responsibilities of populations in the current dynamics of the RPP," alongside secondary themes like social cohesion, the role of citizen monitoring, and security in the Koosin. A prelude to the panel was a popular cross-country race spanning two kilometers, accompanied by music and taking participants through the city's main thoroughfare, including the Daniel Ouezzin Coulibaly roundabout.
Following the race, an aerobics session was held on the CELPAC plateau. The delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamogo Jean Marie Traore, paid respects to customary, traditional, and religious authorities, expressing the government's gratitude for efforts towards peace in Burkina Faso.
The chairman of the organizing committee, Adama Dao, paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their sacrifices. He extended thanks to organizers and contributors to the event's success. Speakers praised the citizen watch initiative, emphasizing its lasting impact on public awareness regarding their roles in the popular progressive revolution.
Minister Karamogo Jean Marie Traore urged the people to collaborate, listen, and address concerns to influence public policies. The governor of the Sourou-Bankui region made the RPP manifesto and the book "President Ibrahim Traore said" available to the public, noting that these documents contain solutions to the discussed concerns.
Dr. Koama Ido presented the main theme, emphasizing the changes initiated by Captain Ibrahim Traore with Forces vives support. Drawing from Captain Thomas Sankara's experience, Dr. Koama stressed the importance of protecting the RPP as an integral part of the population's responsibilities.
Dembele Sanou's communication on citizen monitoring revisited ancestral practices, highlighting the importance of protecting family, community, and property, especially under Captain Ibrahim Traore's leadership. Alassane Kagone, provincial director of Family and Solidarity, discussed social cohesion within the RPP, advocating for solidarity and adaptability to overcome challenges.
Captain N'Goua Prince, head of the 53rd RIC, emphasized vigilance and informed participation in citizen security during asymmetric warfare. The panel's activities concluded with an exhibition match between security forces and civilians, ending in a 1-1 draw.
