Bouguouriba Students Encouraged to Uphold Civic Values at Flag-Raising Ceremony

Leraba: The municipality of Dolo organized, on Monday, May 4, 2026, the monthly flag-raising ceremony at the Gnonnan Kam Departmental High School, in the presence of administrative authorities, education stakeholders, students and the population.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the solemn ceremony began around 7:30 a.m. on the school grounds. Students, teachers, municipal staff, and guests took part in this civic activity, which has become a monthly event promoting republican and civic values. During the flag-raising ceremony, participants sang the national anthem of Burkina Faso, the Ditany¨, in an atmosphere of patriotic fervor and discipline. The students also performed the anthem of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), demonstrating their commitment to the ideals of integration and solidarity upheld by the member states of the confederation.

This ceremony, held every first Monday of the month, aims to strengthen the civic spirit of the population, especially young people, through respect for the symbols of the State, the promotion of patriotism and the consolidation of the feeling of national belonging. The administrative and educational officials present commended the strong turnout of participants and the commitment of those involved in the education system to promoting civic values. They also urged students to cultivate discipline, punctuality, respect for authority, and a pursuit of excellence.

According to the speakers, these values are essential levers for building a responsible society and contributing to the harmonious development of the community and the country. The holding of this flag-raising ceremony at the Gnonnan Kam Departmental High School also illustrates the desire of local authorities to bring civic activities closer to schools in order to involve young people in the dynamic of consolidating social cohesion and living together.
