Tenkodogo: The State Council, through its Directorate of Communication and Press Relations, organized a public conference on Wednesday in Tenkodogo, in the Nakamb© region, focusing on administrative justice, administrative courts, and applicable procedures. This event aimed to help citizens better understand the workings of the administrative justice system and to strengthen ties between the justice system and those seeking justice.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this meeting is part of an annual awareness-raising tour conducted by the Council of State across the various regions of Burkina Faso. For the 2026 edition, the Nakamb© and Nando regions were selected to host the activities. The objective is to enable participants to better understand administrative justice procedures and to bring justice closer to the people.
The first president of the Council of State, Edilbert Som©, indicated that this initiative aims to reduce the distance between citizens and the judicial institution. "The objective sought through this public conference in the Nakamb© region is to bring justice closer to the people at several levels," he stated.
He further explained that the initiative operates on multiple levels: intellectually, to raise awareness of justice; and psychologically, to break down the barrier that exists between those seeking justice and the justice system. Som© noted that many people still feel mistrust or fear towards the justice system, hence the need to increase the frameworks for exchange and information.
The first president of the Council of State also expressed the wish to see citizens better aware of the circumstances in which they can bring a case before the administrative judge. "Our expectation of the participants is that the barrier that exists between citizens and administrative justice will be reduced to a minimum and that citizens will be more aware of the situations in which they can appeal to the administrative judge," added Mr. Som©.
Anatole Kabor©, a magistrate and advisor to the Council of State and the day's speaker, explained that the communication focused on the concept of administrative justice and its scope of competence. According to him, the goal is to make participants understand that justice is not limited solely to criminal or civil matters. "It is about making them understand that justice also has an administrative aspect which deals with disputes that may arise between the administration and those it administers," he explained.
Through this public conference, the Council of State intends to strengthen the legal culture of citizens and promote better access to administrative justice in Burkina Faso.
